Proposte stands for excellence!

As an attendee to 23-year old Proposte for 11 years I know a lot about this specialty show but I wanted to have the most accurate information for our readers. For this purpose I interviewed Mr. Massimo Mosiello, general manager of Proposte, on Friday 2016, the last of the show this year.
What makes Proposte unique when compared with other fairs?
There are many factors which differ Proposte from other shows. First of all we are very strict on accepting a company as an exhibitor.

What are your criteria for accepting exhibitors?
First of all, it has to be a manufacturer. No matter how quality sample they submit, we don’t accept importers or traders. Secondly we take their samples and check for quality. We care for their capacity, manufacturing facilities, number of employees and their customer portfolio and profile.
Is it important to know their clientele?
Yes, it is a factor for us to know if they are selling to prestigious companies. Their clientele shows us their quality and respectfulness.

As a European-only show you wouldn’t accept any other companies to the show but since last year you have some none-European exhibitors including three Turkish brands? How has this happened?
In fact those three Turkish brands are the only non-European exhibitors but we made this decision last year. When you look at those three names, Vanelli is a world brand. It has many innovation awards from even European organizations. Marteks has an excellent collection. Penelope is the same. We may accept companies from other countries, too.

What about the International Observatory scattered around?
They are very good for Proposte too. They add more value. Everything is for visitors and buyers. When they come for Proposte, they have more choices because there are some high-end companies among them and there are middle level quality manufacturers. Some of the buyers need middle level rather than top level quality. So, this is very good for everybody. There is another important factor: having many companies at International Observatory section gives us the opportunity to evaluate for having them inside Proposte in the future. We see their collection, we know the company better and we make our decision easier in accepting or refusing their application.

Do you have a plan to open the show to the world? A Proposte Shanghai or New York or Istanbul, for instance?
That could be in the future. We have similar organisations in my other profession at a Milan-based exhibition company. We make apparel shows in Shanghai and New York. Proposte may also consider similar openings in the future but it is not on our closer agenda.

Dina Vanelli at the heart of Proposte

Proposte is a unique European-only show annually held in Cernobbio town of Italy. It is unique for its attendance, concept and venue. It is held where ancient Villa Erba is. Situated at the lakeside of Como Lake, this villa is famous for many aspects including Hollywood movies.

Proposte never accepts non-European companies inside the event but Dina Vanelli, along with two other Turkish brands, has managed to go inside because of its European prestige and quality. It has many awards from European organizations for its innovative and high-end fabrics.
Mr. Erol Turkun, Chairman of the Board of Turkun Holding, to which Dina Vanelli belongs, said that their quality was approved by Europe and that’s why they were accepted as a Proposte exhibitor. “This is a pride for our company as well as our industry,” Turkun says. “We have to be innovative, quality and professional in our business. We are part of Europe anyways but we should feel the responsibility of this identity and act accordingly.” Erol Turkun said they would continue to focus on R&D studies to innovate new products and they would have many novelties in the near future for the fabrics industry.

What makes Proposte unique when compared with other fairs?

There are many factors which differ Proposte from other shows. First of all we are very strict on accepting a company as an exhibitor.

What are your criteria for accepting exhibitors?

It has many innovation awards from even European organizations. Marteks has an excellent collection. Penelope is the same. We may accept companies from other countries, too. There is a Moroccan fabric manufacturer who makes very quality products. There are some Indian and Turkish manufacturers that can comply with the criteria of Proposte. If we have place, we may accept them in our show, however, there is already a waiting list. But the general rule is that a Proposte exhibitor should comply with our standards.

What about the International Observatory scattered around?

They are very good for Proposte too. They add more value. Everything is for visitors and buyers. Proposte to be promoted by I-AM Comunicazione

Promoted successfully by Studio Michelangelo for 23 years, Proposte contracted I-AM Comunicazione, a Como-based agency to undertake its communications and press works.

This year Proposte, the World Premiere of Furnishing Fabrics and Curtains, is changing its communications agency. After twenty-three years of collaboration with Studio Michelangelo of Milan, the communications, graphics, press office work and events organization for the 2016 edition of Proposte will be carried out by the Como-based agency I-AM Comunicazione. “Studio Michelangelo helped us grow,” said Massimo Mosiello, general manager of the fair, expressing his gratitude, “they were with us from the first year, which is why they will always hold a place of honor in the history of our fair and in the memories of those who had the good fortune to work with them.”
“Those were years of hard work, and on behalf of everyone on the Proposte board, I want to give a warm thank you to Vittoria Ceriani and Chiara Arduino for their important contribution and reaffirm the great respect we will always have for them,” added the board president PierCarlo Viganò, who continued by saying, “for Proposte 2016 will be a year of confirmation and new beginnings.”The confirmations, first of all, relate to the date and location: just like last year the next edition will be held at the end of April, or more precisely from Wednesday 27 April to Friday 29 April 2016, and once again in the modern Villa Erba Exhibition Centre in Cernobbio and the marvelous and picturesque Villa Antica.

A more comprehensive PROPOSTE opens with satellites!

The European show of world preview of furnishing fabrics and curtains opens at Villa Erba, Cernobbio (Como), with attachments mostly from Turkey, 27-28- 29 April

Proposte, World Preview of Furnishing Fabrics and Curtains, for the first time since 1993 will not be held in May. In 2015 it will take place on the 27th, 28th and 29th of April at Villa Erba in Cernobbio (Como, Italy) as always. The leading home textile manufacturers will exhibit their collections at a show focused entirely on fostering business and international contacts

Exhibitors

Only manufacturers of furnishing fabrics, curtains and trimmings are admitted to exhibit at Proposte. They must share at least three characteristics: the qualification of their companies and products, professional correctness, commitment to research and development in creativity and technologies

International observatory

After continuous requests by the exhibitors, this year management of Proposte has entrusted the task of organising the presences outside Villa Erba to Ascontex Promozioni srl. The most quali¬fied of these companies will exhibit at the Sheraton Lake Como Hotel and at the Cernobbio Shed, under the label of International Observatory. The Sheraton Lake Como Hotel (formerly Grand Hotel di Como) is in Como, in Via per Cernobbio 41/A. The Cernobbio Shed is in Via Manzoni 1 in Cernobbio. Both distances can be walked in about 10 minutes. There will be a circular shuttle service from/to Villa Erba. The entry card for Proposte or, after a quick registration, your business card, are required to visit International Observatory free of charge. 36 are the exhibiting companies: 19 Turkish, 13 Indian, 3 American and one Italian. Operators may visit the show with their personal Proposte entry card or by registering at the reception. Shuttle buses to and from Villa Erba

Carpet Show 2015

During Proposte, same opening days and hours, Carpet Show 2015 takes place at Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio, Via Regina 7. Two are the exhibitors, both outstanding manufacturers of carpets: Amini – a division of ABC Italia and Mariantonia Urru. Operators may visit the show with their personal Proposte entry card or by registering at the reception. Shuttle buses to and from Villa Erba

Villa Erba

Villa Erba, architectural jewel of the XVIIIth century, was once the summer residence of the “Erba” family. Here, the great director Luchino Visconti, spent many of his summers and the rooms of the villa inspired the sets of some of his most famous masterpieces. Today the villa, with its ancient frescoes, the precious inlaid ceilings and Mannerist rooms, is the ideal location for unique events as Proposte. At Villa Erba, prestige and worldliness live in perfect harmony: from the most formal conventions to the wildest of parties, where music is guaranteed until late at night thanks to the ideal location of the villa away from populated centers, every event is unique.

Lake Como

Lake Como is situated in Como (Province) in Lombardy, Northern Italy. It is part of the Italian Lake District. Popular with visitors for well over 100 years for its combination of fresh air, water, mountains and good weather, it’s still worth a visit

Posing as a necklace The Como Lake has towns on its coasts such as Bellagio, Bellano, Cernobbio, Colico, Como, Griante, Lecco, Menaggio, Nesso, Tremezzo, Varenna, The Lake is shaped rather like an inverted ‘Y’, with two ‘legs’ starting at Como in the South-West and Lecco in the South-East, which join together half way up and the lake continues up to Colico in the North. The first few kilometers of the ‘legs’ at the southern end of the lake are relatively flat, but Lake Como becomes more mountainous as you head northwards into the Alps. Some of the nearby peaks go slightly above the tree line so the views are really impressive. In the winter, there is skiing in the nearby valleys

The area around Lake Como, or “Lago di Como” in Italian, is pretty characteristic. It has a kind of flair and sense of history that tends to impress its visitors in a sense deeper than only from a touristic point of view. It has been appreciated for its beauty and uniqueness for ages, and even as early as the Roman Times. Its atmosphere and natural surroundings have been the inspiration for an important part of the creation of Naboo, in the Star Wars movies.
