Organized by the Uludag Exporters Union, UTIB, the second edition of Home Textile Design Competition was completed and awards were given in a special event. The event was participated by Mehmet Buyukeksi, president of
exporters assemble of Turkey, Ibrahim Burkay, chairman of UTIB, other members of the union, academia, leading names in the industry and visitors. In his opening speech, Ibrahim Burkay said, “We believe that home textile industry will keep contributing to the development of international relationships among the home textilers worldwide. Having a high level of
management capability, our industry will also be successful in 2012 and in the following years. Once again, I heartily congratulate all parties that took part in this contest, especially the contestants.”
The competition aims to connect different parties in the industry, to establish a fashion and trend in international markets. Young and professional designers were encouraged to bid for competition. Out of 223 applications, 27 design
were given various awards. Award presentation event was enriched by the key note speech of Eria Hiryi, who told her story of developing her own design.
All the works were exhibited and top innovative design has won 10 thousand TL, while winners of the categories were given 7 thousand TL. Second and third runners were awarded with 4 and 3 thousand TL, respectively. Two of the owners of winning works will additionally earn educational support for two years in abroad, supported by Economy Ministry. Orbis Vista, a sponsor of the event, registered successful works and three designs were additionally gifted by NedGraphics. Another sponsor of the event Musiad, presented one thousand Lira to three students. NedGraphics and UTIB will took three other contestants, to Heimtextile Fair that will be held in 2012 in Frankfurt, ermany. Under the framework of the contest, 12 design schools were visited in five cities, where the information about the contest were given and uestions were answered. The meetings were participated by Asli Turkun Karacor and Pinar Tasdelen Engin, members of UTIB board. Categories and winners were as follows: The best innovative design, Ozanhan Kayaoglu Professionals Bathroom: Nese Yasar Cegindir, Ceyda Candas, Muge Caferoglu Bed: Esma Isil Yuksel, Mirac Cagler Yazici, Esma Isil Yuksel Draperies: Nejla Even, Esin Kilic, Seher Suleymanoglu. Students Bathroom: Busra Dilara Bese, Nergiz Serifoglu, Gulhan Gulecer Bed: Yekta Bakirlioglu, Erdem Sucuoglu, Oyku Degigoglu Drapery: Gizem Tatar, Basak Badur Ozkendirci, Cansu Celikkol Coach: Ebru Baytok Keskin, Mustafa Erkek, Hatice Sari Musiad awards: Esra Yarar, Ayse Sencan, Neslihan DuranNedGraphics award: Gulhan Gulecer
