The Carpet Design Awards at DOMOTEX set new global standards for quality and design in hand-made carpets and rugs – and next January sees the eighth round of the annual prize competition.
Intending entrants are now invited to submit their entries for the top award in this market segment. The competition for the 2013 Carpet Design Awards is open to all manufacturers of hand -made carpets – not just those who will be exhibiting at the DOMOTEX trade fair, which runs from 12 to 15 January in Hannover. Prizes will be awarded in a total of ten categories. For the first time there are three separate categories for entries in the section “Best Modern Design”.
The entries will be judged by a distinguished intemational jury. in 2013 the jury panel consists of six respected carpet industry insiders, who are well qualified to judge both the quality of the products and the creativity and inventiveness of the manufacturers. “High -quality hand- knotted rugs are pieces of floor art. As a key style statement they serve as a focal point in a room and tie together ali the individual elements of the interior design scheme into a single unified composition. The Carpet Design Awards provide excellent examples of this”, said jury member Nina Yashar, whose Milan gallery “Nilufar” is an internationally renowned showcase for traditional and modern designer furniture and carpets.
Those who make it through to the jury’s final selection are invited to present their designs at the new stand for the Carpet Design Awards in Hail 16 at DOMOTEX. Traditionally the Avvards stand has always been very popular with visitors to the show, who gather here to share ideas, draw inspiration and catch up on the latest trends.
The 2012 competition attracted 211 entries from manufacturers in 26 countries. The closing date for entries in the 2013 Carpet Design Avvards is 6 November 2012. The formal presentation of prizes takes place on 13 January 2013 at the Carpet Design Avvards stand.
