Decorative materials based on a modular principle – at the end of November, drapilux unveiled 200°, the largest collection in company history. Six themes, 45 designs, 142 color variations and seven basic materials can be mixed and matched to meet customers needs.
The variety and modern design of the new collection proved to be a hit with guests at the exclusive launch event held at Cubic Studios in Düsseldorf. “This is a young and cutting-edge drapilux,” explained interior designer Werner Hegemann, who has been a customer of the fabrics specialist in Emsdetten for 20 years. “The new collection has led to some exciting things.” The modular range of fabrics offers some unique characteristics: with 200°, drapilux provides its customers with a whole new level of creative freedom and the opportunity to design decorative textiles themselves. “Customized fabrics have replaced standard ones -1 think it’s great that you can design the fabrics yourself and then have them produced,” stated Roland Rotter,
Managing Director of the company Raumprâsenz in Essen. The basic principle behind 200°: six themes can be combined with a variety of designs and colors, thus developing a customized decorative fabric step by step. “There is something for every type of property, be it a nursery, hospital, hotel or of fice,” explained Rotter. The emotionally charged design themes Summer in Smâland, trip to Cornwall and Alpine garden can be complemented by design-oriented themes such as cyber world, northern lights and blueprints.
The extensive variety of combination options makes it possible to create some 1,500 different fabric variations. “200° is therefore the largest collection that drapilux has ever launched onto the market. I have never seen anything comparable in the industry,” said Dr Norbert Rehle, Head of Sales at drapilux. “The variety is astonishing and the design freedom they afford is endless,” remarked Alexander Schanz from Bolz-Dekorationen.
This modular system requires a new way of thinking
According to Rehle, “The degree of enthusiasm demonstrates that we made the right choice when we expanded the traditional drapilux brand to include the cutting-edge 200° collection”. At the same time, everyone at drapilux is aware that this step in a new direction is a risky one. “Many of our customers first need to learn how to use the modular system and the endless array of options,” he added. Gerold Berges, owner of Gardinen-Berges in Münster stated, “The modular system requires a new way of thinking. But in the world of interior design, standardised solutions are no longer an option if you want to of fer your customers exceptional variety. So I am confident that this is the right path – a new era.”
Innovative textile printing process
It is not the modular system of 200° alone that demonstrates drapilux’s courage to strike a new path. The entire collection is based on an innovative digital printing process, in which color is applied to the fabric at 200 degrees.
“This is the temperature at which dye contained on transfer paper is transformed into a gas and diffused into the fabric – and the source of the collection name,” explained Rehle. The print materials offer a considerable benefit: while woven materials can only be manufactured in large batches, requiring greater storage capacities, the new printing technologies make it possible to produce a few metres of a material at a time. drapilux is also the only manufacturer in the industry able to print ceiling-high materials. When larger batches are ordered, drapilux’s popular supplementary applications such as air purification and room hygiene can be applied to fabrics in the 200° collection.
