Providing production and employment opportunities for women
The “By Women’s Hands, Through Women’s Effort” project was launched to preserve the traditional Kilis quilt-making tradition, increase women’s participation in production, and contribute to local development. The initiative is carried out through a partnership between Bambi Mattress, the Governor’s Office of Kilis, the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration, and the Kilis Humanitarian and Social Development Association. Featuring the traditional “Anatolia,” “Firuze,” and “Gypsy Girl” motifs, the quilts are handcrafted by women from Kilis and are available for purchase at Bambi Mattress stores. By providing women with production and employment opportunities, the project supports both their household incomes and their active participation in social and economic life.
