Evteks, second largest home textile show of the world, will be held at CNR Expo, Istanbul, May 15-19, 2013, and yearly trade connections will be set here in the sector. Latest developments, trends and latest fashion products are showcased at Evteks, which is organized by Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TETSIAD) and CNR International Fair Organization. Speaking at the press conference about this year’s Evteks, Ceyda Erem, Chairwoman of the Board of CNR Holding, said, “Our fair grew by 10% this year.
We will host 1,000 companies representing 2,000 brands instead of 800 companies this year. We had to decline the applications of 500 companies because of insufficient space.” Eren added that declined the applications of not only domestic firms but also foreign companies. Stating that they expect 120 thousand visitors of which 30 thousand foreigners this year’s edition of Evteks, Ceyda Erem said there was good participation especially from the USA, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France and Germany; then from countries such as Austria, England, Greece, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Azerbaijan, UAE, Egypt, Iran, Morocco, Russia, India, Pakistan, China, Taiwan and TRNC. She also said that they invited buyer delegations from all over the world adding that they there wouldn’t be any room at hotels and motels as was last years. Speaking on his part, Mr. Yasar Kucukcalik, President of TETSIAD, said, ““Leading design studios, trendsetters, leading textile producers of the world are coming to Evteks today. The textiles of all places will be originated from Evteks.”
Pointing out that there was home textiles business of 13 billion dollars in Turkey, Kucukcalik explained, “Home textiles grew by 8% last year while textiles in general grew only by 5%. We have 5 billion dollars in exports of which 2 billion dollars worth is luggage trade.” Kucukcalik stated that textile is the sector which produces most added value and continued, “We come together with world leaders and set the new trends. We have come to a position to go with the world. Turkish home textile products have become a brand. There is a brand namely Turkish towel. We have the production hubs of most important fabric production.”
