Austrian major fiber producer Lenzing AG was one of the focuses of attention at Evteks, 19th Istanbul Home Textile Fair held in CNR Expo Center, May 15-19, 2013. TENCEL®, the revolutionary fiber of Lenzing produced from cellulosic cotton two decades ago pushed the button for “Botanic Lounge”, its new concept at the fair. The world brand shared its TENCEL® Botanic Home Concept with its Turkish and international customers.
Talking about the products at the fair, Dr Susanne Jary, Home Textile Marketing Manager of Lenzing, said that they progressed one step more with TENCEL® on furnishing fabric and that Botanic Fiber would change even the atmosphere at the usage areas.
Speaking at a press conference the company organized at Wow Hotel, Lenzing officials said the world fiber consumption would go up to 100 million tons by 2020 from its current volume of 80 million tons. They stressed that this potential motivated them to spread the usage of TENCEL® to all areas where fibers are used. Lenzing Textile Fibers Vice Chairman Dieter Eichinger said the importance of this product was very big to meet the demand which would arise in the coming years adding that they placed extra importance of the usage of this product in the home textiles field, too. CenkDurakcay, Project Manager of Lenzing mentioned the advantages of concepts of “Botanic-Lounge” and its effects on the home textiles industry.
With TENCEL®, a botanic fiber is, now, making its mark on furniture fabrics, as an alternative to conventional materials. The fiber is made from wood which is a product of photosynthesis. Since the beginning of time, photosynthesis has been basis for life on earth. During photosynthesis, energy from the sun is absorbed by the green chlorophyll, and converted into chemical energy. Dextrose and oxygen are generated from carbon dioxide and water. And wood, the raw material for TENCEL®, is created.
Particularly, if the climate in the room is inviting and allows you to relax and breathe easily. TENCEL® upholster y fabrics are the next component in the botanic home concept. Following bedding and carpets, TENCEL® is now taking couches by storm.
