The ‘Heimtextil Trends’ is the creative way to discover the most important and international trends at the beginning of every year.
The trend information gives product developers, furnishing specialists and designers first-class orientation to interpret current social and cultural developments as well as future consumer requirements.
The 2014/15 trends are structured into two major categories – “Progress!” and “Revive!”.
Each of which is subdivided into two themes: “Generate Collision!” and “Engineer Nature!” and “Exalt Purity!” and “Rejuvenate Craft!”, respectively – dealing in detail with the exploration of progress and renewal of textiles in interior design.

Will the trend of revisiting the past in ever-changing contexts come out on top? Or will nature and technology merge into one? Visitors to the coming Heimtextil can look forward to an experience for all the senses in the impressive and elaborate setting of the Heimtextil Trend Show in Forum 0 at the International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles. Based on the two superordinate trends, ‘Progress!’ and ‘Revive!’, four inspiring thematic worlds with numerous interactive elements will offer a preview of tomorrow’s home interior design. Britain’s FranklinTill studio is responsible for planning and organizing the Trend Show at Heimtextil 2014. Additionally, designers, creative specialists and experts will provide well-founded information about the trends of the 2014/2015 season in the special lecture program.
Interactivity will be a key feature of the Heimtextil Trend Show 2014. “We aim to bring trends to life by integrating fragrances, sounds and even taste”, say Caroline Till and Kate Franklin of FranklinTill. “Visitors will be able to see designers and artists in action and create their own unique designs.” For example, movement alone will cause the shape and color of images to change in the ‘Generate Collision’ thematic world. ‘Engineer Nature!’ shows futuristic bio designs while ‘Exalt Purity!’ spotlights natural materials in a relaxed atmosphere. The fourth thematic world, ‘Rejuvenate Craft!’ presents textiles on three different levels and tracks.
Lecture program with international designers
On all four days of the fair, international design experts and representatives of the Heimtextil Trendtable will offer insights into their work and perceptions. Over 35 lectures especially for buyers, products designers and developers, interior architects and furnishing experts will provide a host of valuable information about trends, colors and materials. Also daily throughout the fair, Caroline Till and Kate Franklin will explain the Heimtextil Trends 2014/15 – Progress! / Revive! – and present examples of future interior design.
Trend barometer for the sector
The Heimtextil Trends have been the international figurehead of the trade fair for around 25 years. Every year at the beginning of the year, they offer the international textile and furnishing sector clear orientation with regard to current trends. For the 2014/15 season, a team of six international design studios worked on the most important trend themes. This year, London’s FranklinTill studio has assumed overall responsibility for the concept. A well-founded preview of the textile interior trends for the 2014/2015 can also be found in ‘Progress! / Revive!’, the Heimtextil Trend Book.
